Signed- John Bogle Bobblehead- Live Auction through 12/23-

Post by haban01 »

Hello All,

There was a conversation in another posting regarding the Bobbleheads that were a very special gift at our Diehards reunion in 2006 in Las Vegas, NV. Again, A special thanks to Dale, our event coordinator. It was a blast.

Anyway, Because of the interest we have in these Bobbleheads, I've decided to add liquidity to the Bobblehead market by adding one that I currently have to an public aution held on our Bogleheads forum starting today!!

The top of the box is signed by John C. Bogle as well.

Here is how the Auction will work:

The Auction will remain open until mid-night on December 23rd 2007. The highest bidder will get the Bobblehead doll sent to them.

They must first send the $$$-Amount to the National Constitution Center.

Mel Lindauer will get me the contact information for the person who the check should be made in Attention to at the NCC. Once they get the check, they will e-mail Mel & Eric. I will then send out the Bobblehead in the mail directly to you.

Happy Holidays and let the bidding begin!

Warm Regards (we have about 16 inches of snow here)

Eric Haban

As founder of the Vanguard Group, Jack Bogle’s galvanizing vision that small investors should fully participate in the benefits of equity ownership created the mutual fund industry as we know it today. Yet Jack’s impact on American business and society has been even more profound. As always, his motto is simple—“Character Counts.”

Key to Jack’s own character is his dedication to service. Since 1999, he has served as board chairman of the National Constitution Center, the nation’s first museum and education center dedicated to strengthening civic life by increasing awareness and understanding of the U.S. Constitution.

After seven years of dedicated service, Jack will soon step down as National Constitution Center Chairman. His colleagues, friends and admirers seek to honor his legacy by naming the John C. Bogle Chairman’s Room at the National Constitution Center. This state-of the-art conference facility, overlooking Independence Mall, will serve as a community gathering space, a board room, and an educational resource for groups ranging from scholars to schoolchildren.

We hope that you will choose to be part of this tribute by making your gift today. Every donor to the campaign will be recognized in a special tribute to be presented to Jack in September.

Thank you for your consideration.

Autographed Bogle Bobblehead Auction

Post by Mel Lindauer »

Hello Everyone:

I can't believe that we don't have a single bid yet for the autographed Bogle Bobblehead. Do I hear $100?

Regards,

Mel

Perhaps it's because the date in the original title says "11/23." I believe November 23rd has come and gone :)

Thanks for catching that typo, John. I've changed the date to the 12/23 which is the correct date.

Now, let the bidding begin.

I think a certain poster would have a heart attack if Petrocelli was reading Dan Wiener's Investment Newsletter while looking at Saint Jack's Bobblehead wondering, "Will U.S. Large Growth be the Hot Hands Fund for 2008, or should I put more money towards my investment in Primecap Core?"

John

P.S. Petrocelli, if you win I would like to encourage you to take a picture of your Bobblehead doll with a copy of Dan Wiener’s Newsletter and make that picture your avatar instead of Rico Petrocelli.

I bid $200.00, but as a passive 50/50 investor, I'm sure Petrocelli will easily outbid me.

For the correction on the date. A month late and a dollar short :-)

Hi Petro:

Eric is in the midwest, so he'll have to confirm which time zone he's going to use.

This is about to drop off the front page so I am bumping it up again.

Any more bidders for this great cause?

Warning Bogleheads!

Post by Petrocelli »

You better be on line at midnight with big bucks. Otherwise, I am going to buy the Bogle Bobblehead and send it to Dan Wiener as a Valentine's day present. This will be akin to the Ayatollah owning the Shroud of Turin.

Get out yer' checkbooks skinflints!

Hi Petro:

But possessing the Bogle Bobblehead might also have a miraculous effect on Dan and cause him to accept indexing as the only true faith. Then where would that leave all his newsletter disciples? Better think twice before you do it, 'cause you never know what impact giving it to Dan might have; it just might change the world as we know it! :D

Wow, I really expected to be sniped at the last moment there.

Assuming that I actually am the high bidder if someone could PM me the information I'll need to get a check to the NCC, that would be great, thanks.

Well, it appears that you're the winner, Jay. I've PMd you with detailed information on what I need and where to send the check. Once the National Constitution Center folks confirm receipt of the check, I'll let Eric know to send you the autographed Bogle Bobblehead.

Congratulations!

Hello Mel. I'm wondering if someone might come up with another John Bogle bobblehead for auction. I'm itching to bid on one and it's been a long time since this (and I believe the last) auction.

We'll have to see if anyone who has one cares to donate it for auction. If so, we'd use the proceeds to help fund this forum, since we've already make a number of donations to the NCC, including a major contribution of all the proceeds (advance and royalties) from The Bogleheads' Guide to Retirement Planning.

Just curious how much you'd be willing to bid, since that may help to draw one out of hiding.

I would gladly start the bidding at a Bogleheadish $100.

Edit: I would like nothing better than helping to fund this Forum. It has helped me immensely.
